Class Description

Many firms have high quality internal litigation support capabilities that are sadly under-utilized. Litigation support professionals repeatedly see cases where lawyers passed up a great chance to use technology -- or who used a second- or third-rate technology -- simply because they didn't know about the firm's internal capabilities.

This two-part program -- a class and a workshop -- will help you develop and implement a marketing plan to make sure the lawyers and paralegals in your firm make good use of the resources that are available in-house.

In the class section of the program, among other things, you'll learn:

  • How to approach your marketing efforts with the right 'mind-set' -- a critical step in implementing an effective marketing program
  • Skills and techniques for getting new customers
  • Skills and techniques for getting repeat business from your existing customer base
  • How to turn all of your interactions with people in your firm into effective marketing sessions
  • Quick, every-day marketing activities that you can easily incorporate into your day-to-day work

In the workshop section of the program, the instructor will work with you to develop a marketing plan that's a good fit for your department and your firm.

Who should attend: Law firm litigation support professionals responsible for operating a fully-utilized litigation support department.

Prerequisite: None.

Class logistics: The class and workshop will be conducted at your facility. Your entire litigation support department can attend the class section of the program. Up to 6 participants can attend the workshop part of the program. The facility must be equipped with a projector and screen that can be easily viewed by all students. Either a training room or conference room set-up works. Students do not need individual workstations. The program starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break and 15-minute mid-morning and afternoon breaks. Start and end times can be flexible if you prefer a different schedule for your class .

Take-aways: Each student will be given a printed copy of the class slides that can be used for taking notes. After the class, the instructor will document the plan developed in the workshop and deliver it to participants in the workshop. In addition, each student will be provided with a copy of the video class, MKV1: Marketing Litigation Support in Your Own Firm.

Class fee: $2,000, plus travel expenses.
